The Search For A New Eye Make Up Remover Begins - A Review For My Pure

I'm going to start this blog post with a mass apology - the photos in this post are not the best - the lighting today was shambolic, and for some reason I seem to have my moody gurning face on - so yeah I'm sorry ;) A few months ago the clever or not so clever minds at Boots, reformulated their entire Botanics range, and despite assurances that the products were just being repackaged - my beloved HG eye make up remover disappeared from shelves, with the replacement just a poor imitation (and irritant) or it's former self. I still have a few bottles in reserve but the time has come to look for a replacement. The first place I decided to try was My Pure, looking through the brand lists I noticed that a brand I'd tried products from and and loved produced a make up remover.

From New Zealand's premier natural beauty company Living Nature comes their Gentle Make Up Remover. Formulated without parabans and sulfates, this product contains ingredients such as manuka honey, vegeatble glycerine, witch hazel, and extracts of the kumerahou shrub.

Designed to remove both eye and facial make up, it is specially formulated for people with sensitive eyes and skin. Whilst my skin isn't that sensitive my eyes can be, I suffer from very dry and sore eyes on occasions, so I really have to be careful with what I use to remove my eye make up.

The product comes in chunky, off white slightly transparent bottle. The remover itself is colourless and water like in consistency.

To use it I just poured into on one of these fabulous cotton wool pads, and gently swiped it over my face and eyes - there is no better way than showing the effectiveness of a make up remover than to show you some befores and afters -  first up the before and a face of the day :)

Brace yourself guys it's time for the scary after pictures :)

and just for good measure how about a picture of the dirty cotton pads - just to prove how much make up I was actually wearing and how much this product removed :)

As you can see this product was pretty effective at getting off some pretty stubborn make up including a waterproof mascara and a glitter laden eye colour. I experienced no stinging or irritation on my eyes, my skin was left feeling fresh but not oily or sticky. There is a bit of redness to my skin in the after pictures but this is pretty normal for me. Whilst this removed both eye and face make up effectively I probably use this just on the eyes as you did seem to use an awful let to get a full face of make up off. Time for the sucker punch though - this product was super effective, and it did the job without stinging or irritation but I wouldn't buy it again, first of all it isn't the cheapest product out there but since it did the job that isn't really the reason, the plain and simple fact is I can't stand the smell, there are hints of the smell I've experienced in previous Living Nature products I've tried, but there is something in this that smells almost chlorine, disinfectant like, and I can't stand it! It's a shame, but that's the way it goes I guess, it only goes to show how important our senses are when we decide whether or not to buy a product. Living Nature Gentle Make Up Remover retails at £12.75 for 100ml bottle. What's your favourite eye make up remover? let me know in the comments, and let me know if a smell has ever influenced your skincare purchases?

  1. Great blog, we love using make up remover wipes as they are gently on our eyes! Do you know of any make up remover for sensitive skin?
