And Then There Were Two...

I said in one of my previous posts (you can read it here) that things tend to happen in threes, well that statement has certainly come back to haunt me. After a broken phone, and a broken tooth I asked the questions what else could go wrong so early in the year, well how about you throw a broken heart into the mix as well.

Jake, my chubby, stripy, spotty, soft, and lovable tabby - if you followed me on Twitter for a while, then you'll know that for the last few years my beautiful boy has had a few health problems which every now and then need a little bit of surgical intervention. If you're a pet owner then you'll know that, it can be pretty stressful when your fluff ball is unwell but with this one he always seemed to come out the other side as right as rain and clamouring for cuddles and food, so when he had to go to the vets yesterday for the usual procedure we weren't any more worried then normal. We left him at the surgery and we were told to ring up after 4 if we hadn't heard anything, as I say we weren't too worried so we just got on with our day, I did some editing and early in the afternoon, Mummy Lou went to the hairdressers, she'd barely been back in the house 5 minutes and the phone rang..

To put it bluntly when they'd sedated him for his surgery Jake's breathing hadn't been right, so they examined him and then gave him a scan and found that his lungs were full of fluid, and there was a large tumour in his chest. We then had to make the hardest decision that a pet owner has to make, but in the end there wasn't really a choice, draining his lungs would have given him a week at most, and ultimately he may have ended up being in pain, so we made the decision to let him slip away peacefully and without pain.

To say our hearts are broken is an understatement, and at the moment the 11 and a half years that we spent with him seems nowhere near long enough, he was a beautiful boy to look at his marking were symmetrical, and perfect, and his personality was damn near perfect too, he was a touch stubborn, be he loved strokes, snuggles, and snuffles but his real love wasn't us it was food, from luncheon meat, to sausages to chicken you name it and he would eat it, and he would steal it (that's why we have child locks on our fridge!)

The last few years with him were hard at times (and dare I say it a bit smelly) and I can't say I didn't always fear the worst every time he went to the vets but the fact that the tumour wasn't in any way related to the health problems that he'd been having, makes it a little bit more unexpected. but at the same time just as painful.

Animals are perceptive beings - from the minute the phone rang it was almost as if these two knew that something was wrong, in a strange way I think they realised that he'd gone but they're still wandering around the house looking lost, almost as if they're looking for him. I'm sure they will both be a great comfort to both each other though, and us in the weeks and months ahead.

So many people say that they're just animals but they're not- they really do become part of the family and yesterday I lost a little part of mine and a little bit of my heart too - Rest in peace Jake xxx

A New Arrival In LouLouLand

If you follow me on twitter you'll know that last night I posted a few strange tweets, I was sitting in the car, in the freezing cold in the middle of nowhere waiting for Mummy Lou to come out of a strange house - why? well she was collecting my Christmas present!

Isn't he gorgeous :) His name is Charlie and he's about 8 weeks old. I'd pleaded no begged for another cat, and eventually she gave in. It's funny she'd taken Tallulah for her jabs a couple of weeks ago and she'd noticed the local RSPCA kitten rescue poster and she couldn't resist telling me about the kitten in the picture, I wanted no needed it! Imagine her surprise when she want to the kitten foster home (the strange house!) and the kitten they had for her was the kitten from the poster!

He's gorgeous, he's a semi long hair, and is white, with silver grey and ginger tabby markings, and he has the most gorgeous green eyes. He's quite thin and he has the teeniest little head but the longest body, legs and tail I've ever seen on a kitten

He's pretty nervous at the moment and has taken to hiding behind the Christmas Tree, but we've had a nice little cuddle and he's purred. The lady said he'd need a bit of he was very loving but he'd need a bit of coaxing so were just letting him have his space at the moment.

What about the other 3, well Jasper keeps trying to sniff him and make friends, Jake is being his usual jealous self and keeps growling at him, and Tallulah seems terrified of him and keeps decamping upstairs to my bedroom. Still it's early days,he's only been in the house since 6pm yesterday, so we're all getting used to each other. I know people will say why do you need four cats?well I have lots of furry love to go round and I'm proud to be a mad cat lady :) Huge thanks to my mam, and of course Father Christmas for my new addition :)

Pictures Of The Day / PLOG ?

Here's a different sort of post for today - I'd taken a few pic today so I decided to do a sort of my day in pictures not specifically of me but of things I've worn, seen, done, or that have inspired me :)
Photobucket
The first thing that greeted me this morning was this - my mums birthday bouquet - the flowers have all came out now and I swear I have never seen lilies as big as these the smell is amazing if a little overpowering
Photobucket
Jewellery - this cute ring set from Dorothy Perkins which you may have seen in a recent haul - I love the little flowers and the crystals which also inspired my necklace today, a tiny crystal on a gold chain - I have had this so long, I don't even know where it came from possibly from my Grandma or my Godmother but it's so cute and tiny
Photobucket
The NHS hmm - today I went to my outpatient appointment at one of my local hospitals with my local CFS team - I had a really nice chat with my OT and always feel reassured and positive when I come out
Photobucket
After my appointment me and my mum went to Morrison's - and I was shocked to see their Christmas sweets, biscuits and nibbles out already - it's 100 days to go (yes I follow Santa on twitter) - excuse the crappy phone pic - I was been stalked by a shelf stacker
Photobucket
OK it's way too early for Christmas but I couldn't resist picking one of these up Cadbury Wishes - I have to say it was yum! a chunky milk chocolate star with a bubbly milk chocolate centre yummy!
Photobucket
Finally a lovely tabby cat to welcome me home - a rather disdainful looking Jake - lol

Hope you enjoyed xx

Where Did This Week Go?

I had so many plans for posts this week but as I keep saying the plans of mice and men. Monday I felt like yack, Tuesday I had a lovely day out with my godmother (we found my Christmas pressie :) ) but unsurprisingly I was left exhausted, and yesterday when I had planned to do a catch up I had one poorly pussy cat. Both Jake and Tallulah have had a bit of a tummy bug but being a bit older it hit Jasper worse. He was so lethargic yesterday, not eating or drinking, or even responding when you stroked him :( So we decided to take him to the vet last night. The vet said there wasn't too much to worry about but he gave him an antibiotic shot just in case, and we have to take him back on Friday. Thankfully today he seems much brighter and he had had some breakfast - thank goodness. So apologies for the lack of posts and twitter updates I am back on track from now so expect a few posts today including my Christmas giveaway winner. Thanks for bearing with me xxx

The Surprise Revealed

A New Kitten!
We had been talking about getting another cat for a while and my mum decided it was just the boost I needed. My mum went to collect from her RSPCA foster parents this morning - she is a 9 week old, black and white longhair and her name is Tallulah. We were told last night that she was boy so we had spent last night choosing boys names so when my mum went to went to get her she got a bit of a shock lol so Tallulah it is. She seems very timid and nervous but she has plenty of time to settle in. Jasper doesn't seem that bothered by her he had a sniff whilst she hissed at him, whilst Jake just seems terrified of her lol I predict the fur will be flying for a while lol never mind she is a treasured addition to our home.I will get some more pics and maybe a video when she calms down a little bit x

Sunshine Here I Come!

Well here it is my last post for about a week - tomorrow I jet off for a week of hopefully sunny sun in Cyprus. I hope I will be OK with the heat and I don't have any bad spells while I am away. Hopefully the change of scenery and heat will be a good thing (fingers crossed) Obviously feeling a bit erm about leaving the lads but they will be having a little holiday of their own not in any cattery you understand but a cat hotel! so hopefully they will be OK!
Not much else to say really apart from the fantastic news that Wispa bars are been reintroduced on a limited edition basis - well done Cadbury for listening to your consumers Wispa Golds now please!
OK chicks see you soon (hopefully when I am nice and tanned!)
