Repressing An Eyeshadow With Surprising Results

As you know I received the lovely Physicians Formula Baked Oatmeal Eyeshadow Trio for the lovely Holly earlier this week - I had a little play but then disaster struck I dropped it - thankfully only the darker shade broke but the dome section completely severed from the rest of the eyeshadow (see can see a little bit in this FOTD post what happened) So I managed to retrieve the dome section and I decided to repress it - I broke it down into powder and since it was a mineralized baked shadow I used Lipglossipings method using alcohol and biosilk - success :) the only thing was I think I might have pressed it a bit too hard or my fabric wasn't thick enough hence the lovely imprint of a 10 pence piece lol

Blog Sale Goodies

I've had a couple of parcels over the last day or so - some super goodies from some blog sales :) First of all I bought a nail varnish (yes another one) from the lovely Helen from Just Nice Things - the fabulous OPI Cozu Melted In The Sun and then I bought this gorgeous Physicians Formula Baked Oatmeal Eyeshadow Trio from the lovely Holly - Yummy Mummy's new blog sale blog :) I've already had a little play with this and I love it :)

Lips Of The Day :)

You've just got my lips today I'm not going anywhere so I didn't wear any other make up :) This was another rediscovery - I liked this enough to buy a back up of it but I haven't shown it much love lately. If you follow me on twitter you'll know that I had a bit of a disaster with this last week - I twisted the bullet up and it snapped argh!! Never mind I tried to fix it but it failed so I've popped it into a little pot and I am going to apply that and the dregs with a lip brush :)

It's a gorgeous peachy pink shade almost like my lips but slightly peachier - love it and I'm definitely going to show it more love :)

Goods and Bads

I haven't done one of these for a week or so, so I thought I'd do a catch up x

Bads

* I have had a really rough couple of weeks ME wise I've been so tired, I've had horrible spells of insomnia and I just haven't felt that great - I am also so fed up of being stuck in the house at the the moment :( I went to see my ME /CFS therapist a couple of weeks ago which was the first proper time I had been out of the house and on public transport on my own for ages and it made me feel "normal" - a feeling I totally lack at the moment :(

* My weight I have officially porked again putting on the weight I've lost and some more besides - looking at myself in the mirror lately isn't great - I have restarted my healthy eating plan (I am so over diets I need to change my attitude to food permanently - I diet but the weight always goes back on :() this week and I am going to try and do a little bit of exercise everyday even if it's just a 5 minute walk each day or a few minutes Wii bowling

* Royal Mail - I am waiting for a few parcels that I have just about given up on - they can deliver tiny things but anything bigger just isn't getting through at the moment :(

* My skin argh - it's gone from dry and flaky to hormonal breakout central - I'm using something which is helping a bit but I really want to be able to go out in public without make up for a change :(


Goods

* My mum is doing really well after her operation - she is recovering well, is in less pain, and has much increased mobility - she even managed a little walk last week :)

* My lovely mum has offered to give me some money to go to the Metro Centre this week to get me out of the house and to buy me some bits to cheer me up and some bits to go towards my birthday present (she won't be able to drive or go anywhere for at least another month )I am really hoping I am well enough to go I am aiming to go on Thursday so I am going to get as much rest as I can over the next couple of days :)

* Rediscovering make up - I have been doing a huge sort out of my make up over the last week or so and I have discovered so many lovely things that I haven't shown enough love to - it's like getting new things :)

* Trimming my stash - so far this month I am doing really well I am really making headway into my stash of half and 3/4 used products (this is why I manage to finish so much stuff I have so much half and 3/4 used products - I open something use it for so long then move on to something else lol)

* Nail Varnish - you may have noticed an increase in my NOTD posts well I have rediscovered nail varnish in a big way - due to operation nail growth my nails are actually growing and I have something to paint again - I am having great fun digging out colours from my collection - I think I am slowly going to work my way through everything I've got lol

FOTD - Rediscovered Products

It was an absolutely gorgeous day today so I thought I'd get some stuff done - I was a good girl and by the end of today I will have done 3 blog posts and filmed two You Tube videos :) One of the videos that I filmed was a Rediscovered Products TAG so I thought I'd wear some of the products I was going to talk about and include them in the video and in this face of the day - I am trying to break out of my neutral eyeshadow comfort zone a bit this month so I did this green look - enjoy xx

Schwarzkopf Silhouette Ultimate Shine Extreme Gloss Spray - A Review

A month or so ago I was contacted by a PR company asking if I would like to try another Schwarzkopf hair product 0f course I agreed especially when the word shine was mentioned! As I've said on numerous occasions I have a major issue with shine or lack of it on my hair - when my hair was darker it was so glossy and shiny but since I have had so much blonde put in it it can look quite brassy and dull. Sprays, serums you name it I've used it! Anyway the product they sent my was the Schwarzkopf Professional Silhouette Ultimate Shine Extreme Gloss Spray. The product comes in a 300ml can which reminds me of a hairspray can

This is a super generous size for a shine enhancing product -the majority I've had are a 100ml maximum ! The product dispenses in a super fine mist exactly what you would expect from an aerosol - pump action and self propelled sprays may be better for the environment but there is a tendency to get clumps of product - not with this! you get a super fine mist that covers your hair evenly.

The product itself smells amazing - it has a gorgeous fruity type scent which lingers on your hair but at the same time isn't overpowering -so I like the practical packaging and the smell but how does it perform? Schwarzkopf claim that their "Shine Boost Formula" which helps the hair to reflect light "leaving hair sparkling with radiance and vitality" I have to say I think I agree with this - I don't know how well you can see it in these pictures (they are a bit blurry Mummy LouLou is no photographer lol) but my over processed hair certainly has a gloss / shine to it but without the feeling that it's greasy or waxy.

Another thing I like about this product is that it gives an "invisible hold" - it helps to keep your hair in place to some degree but more importantly it doesn't leave it dry, crispy,tangled or full of product build up - you can't actually feel that you are wearing anything on your hair no matter how much you apply, and believe me in the course of using this product I have layered it on for your benefit :)
Would I buy this? Yes without a doubt I have used more cheaper and more expensive products and I have been way less impressed. I love how it performs and I love the smell, oh and my salon uses it :)! GOSH Eye Liner Pencils Swatches and Review (Pic Heavy)

OK I am officially on a roll - Thankfully my mum is managing to get about a bit more so I haven't had as much to do so over the last few days I've been trying to catch up on my blog posting starting off with a batch of GOSH reviews and swatches. One of GOSH's most popular products is easily their eyeliner pencils. I've had a little look in my stash and I have a few of these so I thought I'd let you know what I think - To be honest I thought I had more but I only have 5.
My favourite formulation is the Velvet Touch Eyeliner Pencil - This claims to be a waterproof eyeliner and to be fair whilst I'm not convinced you can go swimming in it, it does some to be pretty hard wearing once it's set after a minute or so it does take some budging. The texture of these pencils is gorgeous super soft, creamy and blendable easily comparable to the Urban Decay 24/7.
My favourite and probably most use pencil of the ones that I own is Truly Brown




This is a super dark chocolate brown shade, a little browner than it appears here.
A colour that I've mentioned before on my blog is the gorgeous Purple Stain - as with must purples the pictures give it a blue tinge, the swatch is probably the most accurate - it's a gorgeous shimmery purple




The next velvet touch pencil that I have is Green Devil - as a lady with green eyes I was always told when I was younger that I should never wear green eye make up - what a load of codswallop - I find that different shades of green can bring out different tones in my eyes - I love green! This is a real dark grassy green




The final velvet touch pencil that I own is the infamous Bananas - much talked about in the blogging and You Tube community this isn't the bright yellow that the name would imply - it more a soft yellow gold - I wasn't 100% sure what to do with this at first but I find it to be a great inner corner highlighter.




The final GOSH eye pencil I own isn't a velvet touch one it's the normal Kohl/Eyeliner pencil in White. The texture of this isn't quite as nice as the velvet touch ones - it feels a little harder and less creamy on the skin it also isn't waterproof - again I use this as a highlight




I purchased all these pencils myself from Superdrug - they retail for around £5 for the velvet touch eyeliner and around £3.99 for the kohl liners I have to say I prefer the texture of the Velvet Touch pencils to the normal GOSH kohl pencils - If anyone has any favourites I'd love to hear them

Yummy Pudding

I made a lovely veggie chilli for dinner with soya mince and quorn bacon pieces but we fancied something sweet after it so I made this Luscious Lemon Pud! It was my first attempt at a microwave sponge pudding and I even managed to turn it out

You can find the recipe here - It uses Juvela White Mix which is a type of gluten free flour mix but I am sure you could just replace it with normal gluten free or normal wheat flour

GOSH Light N Shine Lip Glaze Swatches + Review

Time for another post I've been meaning to do for ages - whoops - Pursuing the GOSH stand in Superdrug months and months ago now I purchased what at the time I perceived to be a bit of a gimmick but I was wrong and ended up being suitably impressed. GOSH Light N Shine Lip Glazes initially appear to be gimmicky - a little mirror on the side and little LED lights built into the wand - the gimmicks though do turn out to be pretty useful especially on a night out or when your out and about - the mirror is obviously super useful , and believe it or not so are the LEDs -you can actually see where your putting your gloss!! - no going outside the lines with these! I subsequently went on to purchase another two the glosses themselves are very similar to MAC Dazzleglasses - a vanilla taste, a brush applicator and of course the obligatory multi coloured / holographic glitter particles. Time for some pics and swatches
I have 1, 2, and believe it or not 3 :) - I'll start with No. 3 which is probably the most standout shade

This is a super raspberry pink / red with silver / pink and blue toned particles which is surprisingly pigmented - this shade would probably be better worn on its own as opposed to over a lipstick

Here is a swatch of it on my lips (all the swatches are on bare lips) - it's actually a little bit darker / brighter than it is here - the blazing sun light is washing the colour out a bit,

No. 3 is possibly my favourite - a super peachy pink with silver white and pale pink sparkles

It's not the most pigmented lipgloss you can just about see a very pale pink / peach tone in the gloss

on the lips again its probably a tiny bit more peach / pink than it appears here - it would be quite subtle worn on its own or you could wear it over a pink / peach toned lipstick for added sparkle

The final shade I have is No. 1 - - this is white in the tube but clear in colour - it has probably the most multi coloured sparkle in it - you name the colour it will be in there


On the lips it looks quite similar to the previous one but the sparkle is a lot more evident - again you could wear it on it's own but it would look fabulous over any colour lipstick!

I really like these lipglosses they have the right degree of stickiness, and seem to last pretty well on the lips - my only slight complaint is that when they wear off they seem to leave a few glitter particles on your mouth and on your skin - so if you don't like glitter they probably aren't for you. I bought these glazes / glosses from Superdrug for around £8.50 each for a 6ml tube.

GOSH Velvet Touch Foundation Primer Review

I've been meaning to write this review for ages and ages but some how I've never got round it till now and since the bottle is nearly finished I thought I better do it :)
In the last few years Primers have gone from being a make up artists secret, to a beauty junkie and an everyday make up wearers must have. Lots of people don't see the need for them but I must admit I like the idea - having an oily / combination skin with lots of open pores I am always on the look out for something that will smooth my skin, mattify it , and above all make my foundation last longer.
The GOSH Velvet Touch Foundation Primer was one that kept coming up in primer recommendations so I thought I'd give it a go - the product itself comes in a 30ml pump action bottle which I like, the product dispenses easily, and it's airtight and hygienic

The primer itself is a clear, relatively thick gel texture - as with the majority it's a silicone based primer (Dimethicone in this case) -it has little if any smell just a slight almost unnoticeable chemical smell

It spreads quite easily on the skin and leaves a matte ish, smooth finish and it absorbs quite easily.

My only complaint is that it can feel quite greasy on my skin when you first apply it - it does absorb to some degree but I can still feel it on my skin and my skin still feels a bit greasy and clogged :(. Liquid foundation certainly lasts longer on my face by using this but I do find it can make mineral foundation look a bit cakey especially during application and patchy as it wears off during the day. Would I buy this again erm probably not this is my second experience of using silicone based primers (my first was one of the Smashbox ones) and I have to say I don't think I'm a fan of the formulation - I just don't think the silicone really works on my oily skin. If you have drier skin this may work better on you but its a thumbs down for me - still there are plenty more to try I have a few in my stash including Make Up Forever, Boots No7, Avon, and Laura Geller to have a go at so I'll keep looking - If you have any Primer recommendation I'd love to hear them x
