Festive Nails From FNUG - A Review For My Pure*

I so, so nearly called this post frustration from FNUG but I didn't think that it was altogether fair. I've become a bit of a fan of this Danish nail brand over the last 12 months or so, so for one of November's My Pure reviews I thought that I'd review one of their more festive, appropriate polishes

Chictopia Nail Polish by FNUG is one of the most beautiful colours that I've seen in a long time, but it's also one of the most frustrating polishes that I've ever used.

I have no issue with the formulation but arghhhhh when it comes to photographing it this colour has nearly driven me up the wall. It's beyond beautiful, it a gorgeous metallic, shimmery, pink, red which is shot through with loads and loads of ultra fine, glittery gold sparkle.

Try as I might though I just can't do this justice, you can see the pink and red tones in these pictures but the gold glitter that gives it an almost bronzed, glitter look in certain lights can barely be seen :(

Thankfully though the formulation was first class. This 3 free polish, which is crammed full of vitamins and caviar extract was a little bit thick but it applied smoothly and dried quickly. With careful application you could probably get away with one coat but this as per usual is two. Unlike a lot of glitters this one has a smooth glossy finish and it's pretty easy to remove.

My pictures really are a bit of a fail so I've recorded a tiny bit of footage so you can see the colour change and hopefully you can see a bit more of the gold sparkle effect.

It's so annoying when things look better in real life but if you really want to see how gorgeous this colour is, then all I can suggest is that you buy it and try it for yourself ;) It's a lovely colour for the festive and party season, It's a little  bit different from the classic red and the gold sparkle just takes it to another level. This shade also looks amazing with rose gold so if your a fan of this on trend metal then either pick up a bottle for yourself and leave a little note for Santa and you never know x FNUG Nail Polish in Chictopia retails at £12 for an 8.5ml bottle from My Pure x  Thanks for reading and if you have any comments please let me know xx

A Berrylicious Nails Of The Day - FNUG - Cover Shot*

No matter how much I love reading blogs, I'll always be a real, print and paper magazine girl at heart, and at this time of year nothing makes me happier than a big, chunky, September issue landing on my doormat. I've only flicked through a couple of magazines so far, but it's clear to see that yet again berry tones in both clothing and make up are going to be hot for Autumn and Winter 2015.

Cry! We've barely had a summer yet. so I'm not quite ready to embrace a full on berry lip but I have found a nail polish  from My Pure that fulfils those berry fantasies and bridges the gap between summer and autumn.

Yes, it's another polish from Danish brand FNUG. I've become a big fan of these polishes over the last few months and I'm already building up a nice little collection. FNUG polishes are 3 free and are free from Formaldehyde, Toluene and Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP). As well as providing long lasting, chip resistant colour they also contain caviar extract, silica and vitamins A, D, E, and B to help nourish and strengthen the nails.

FNUG Nail Polish in 55 Cover Shot in my opinion is a creamy, deep raspberry shade, with definite pink, berry, and purple tones, that looks darker on the nails than it does in the bottle.

Given my previous experience with FNUG polishes I was looking forward to using this one but I have to be honest and say I struggled with it. Unlike the rest of the polishes that I've tried, this one seemed to be a lot thicker and a little bit more awkward to apply neatly as I'm sure you can see from my pictures. Although you could probably get away with just one coat, I've applied two here to neaten the manicure and to show off the true depth of the colour.

As much as I love the colour of Cover Shot I just don't love it as much as some of the another FNUG shades that I've tried. This beautiful deep raspberry is a perfect transitional shade for that period between summer and autumn but unfortunately I just didn't get on with the formula. The thicker texture was harder to apply and because the polish was thicker it just didn't seem to wear as well as the colours that I've tried in the past. It's a shame but I really do think that this is just a one off and it certainly won't put me off trying more FNUG polishes in the future. FNUG Nail Polish in 55 Cover Shot retails at £12 for an 8.5ml from My Pure x Do you like colours like this? Let me know below x

A Summery Lilac Nails Of The Day - FNUG - Glamazonian*

Hi everyone x I'm back x I'm still not feeling 100% but I thought I'd return with a nice and happy nails of the day post. Looking at the UK weather forecast for the rest of the week it does appear as though summer is here at last, and to celebrate I thought I'd paint my nails in lovely shade from My Pure that screams summer.

FNUG Nail Polish in 45 Glamazonian is a beautiful, creamy, pastel lilac. I love wearing shades like this all year round, but in the summer I think that a pretty pastel nail is a must have. I love bright nails but pastel shades are just a little bit smarter and a bit more sophisticated.

Containing both caviar and silica as well as vitamins A, D, E, and B, Danish brand FNUG's polishes and big 3 free and they are designed to help strengthen and condition the nails.

The first coat was a little bit streaky which is pretty common with cream polishes, but it just needed one more coat to produce the smooth even finish that you can see here. Despite the muggy weather over the last few days, the dry time was excellent and after 3 days it's still wearing well.

I have to say that so far I'm yet to be disappointed in a polish from this brand. They've all applied well, dried quickly and above all they've lasted. There are so many more shades that I still want to try so you can expect to see some more FNUG polishes on the blog in future. FNUG Nail Polish in Glamazonian retails at £12 for an 8.5ml bottle from My Pure. Are you a bright or a pastel girl? Let me know below x

NOTD - FNUG - 98 Shady Lady*

Over the years both cameras and computers have came on leaps and bounds, but try as we might they still can't reflect and translate colours and textures as well as our own eyes do. Case in point this nail polish from FNUG

Yes it's another FNUG polish, I can't resist there polishes at the moment and so for one of May's My Pure reviews I decided to try another one.

98 - Shady Lady is one beautiful shade but it is so hard to capture just how beautiful it actually is. It's a duo (or even a trio) chrome, foil. Depending on the light and how you move the colours flash between a peacock toned teal blue, a darker blue, and a pale turquoise, all shot through with hints of purple. I've photographed in a few different lights here just so you can see how the colour changes.

I also recorded a little video just see how the colour transforms when you wiggle your fingers.

With this shade you could record all the videos you wanted and take a zillion photographs and you'd still never capture it's true beauty. It isn't just about the colour though, this is good all rounder polish, it applied well, left minimal brush marks and it wore well. This is another winner from FNUG and another polish I'm happy to have in my vast collection. FNUG Nail Polish in 98 Shady Lady normally retails at £12 for 8.5ml from My Pure but it's currently on sale at £10.80. Are you a fan of duo chrome nail polishes? Let me know in the comments below x

FNUG - This Season - A Nails Of The Day Featuring My Pure*

If there was a song to describe this post I think it would be Alanis Morissette and Ironic. Up until about 3 weeks ago my nails and hands were fine, but almost as soon as my March My Pure requests went in, my nails started to snap and my hands became drier than the Sahara.

Both Ironic and annoying - granted they look slightly better than what they did say a week ago, but they still aren't great, so you're going to have to imagine what this polish would look like on longer nails and nicer hands.

The polish in question is FNUG - 93 This Season. If you've read any of my other FNUG reviews you'll know how impressed I've been with this Danish brand. Not only is it 3 free but also contains ingredients such as silica and vitamins A, D, E and B, to help strengthen the nails.

In the bottle This Season looks like an almost two tone lilac and silver. On the nails though in the majority of lights it applies as a metallic lilac foil, with a textured sparkly finish. It's coming across more purple here but in real life, it's less bright and a little bit more silvery

The short, wide brush made application a breeze even on my little stubby nails and the dry time was excellent. In these pictures I'm wearing two coats but the coverage was so good you could easily get away with one.

I'm normally a huge metallic and lilac fan but this polish doesn't do a lot for me. I'm normally okay with textured polishes but I'm just not a big fan of the foil and texture combination. Don't get me wrong this isn't a bad polish by any means ,the wear time and application are easily comparable to the other FNUG polishes I've tried, I just don't like the finish. FNUG - This Season Nail Polish retails at £12 for an 8.5ml bottle from My Pure. Are you a fan of textured nail polishes? Let me know in the comments below x

Another Nails Of The Day Courtesy Of My Pure - FNUG - Fashion Editor*

After my previous positive experience with FNUG nail polish I couldn't resist trying another shade for one of my January My Pure reviews.

Like my previous FNUG polish - Hats On (read my review here), this one is also big 3 free and is enriched with caviar extract, to nourish and strengthen the nails.

I'm not sure how well it's coming across here but FNUG - Fashion Editor is a gorgeous champagne colour packed full of microscopic silver sparkle. In daylight it has an almost cool, pink toned metallic finish but turn the lights or use the flash as I have here and it almost seems to absorb the light and you get a warm, sparkly pink toned, copper, bronze.

Again the application was perfect, the short handle and wide brush makes it very easy to control. The wide brush also means that you can pretty much paint all of your nails in one stroke, brilliant if you hate visible brush strokes as much as I do.

In the pictures here I'm wearing two coats of Fashion Editor, but to be honest the coverage is good enough to get away with just the one. Wear time again was good, and I managed 3 days without a top coat before I got a bit of chipping, which for me as you know is pretty impressive.

Two polishes tried, two winners - Like the previous FNUG polish that I tried this one is another winner. The application was superb, the formulation was good, and the wear time for me was excellent. Again the price is a touch prohibitive but for me this polish is well worth the money. FNUG Nail Polish - 80 - Fashion Editor normally retails at £12 but it's currently on special offer at £10.80 for a 8.5ml bottle from My Pure. I'm so, so tempted to pick up another bottle for one of my February or March reviews so if there is any particular shade from the My Pure range that you'd like to see please leave me a comment and let me know x

Nails Of The Day Featuring FNUG - Hats On*

I'd like to consider myself pretty on the ball when it comes to nail polish brands but up until recently I'd never heard of Danish brand FNUG.

Founded by Charlotte Fnug Munksgaard, FNUG are a big 3 free brand which means that they don't contain Toulene, DBP or Formaldehyde. Instead they contain strengthening silica and vitamins A, B, D and E. They also contain caviar which is full of nourishing minerals and amino acids.

Because of their 3 free status they are the first nail polish brand to be stocked by online natural beauty store My Pure. As you know I'm a huge nail polish fiend so I couldn't resist trying a bottle for one of December's My Pure reviews.

Although My Pure only stocks a small selection of the FNUG range, there are still lots of colours to choose from. I thought about for a little while but eventually I went for 77 - Hats On.

I love my duo chrome polishes and I have to say that this one is absolutely stunning. Ranging from smokey grey, to mauve, to bright purple, and green and every colour in between. I know it's hard to believe but every single one of these pictures is of the same nail polish, and there were still a few transformations that I didn't manage to capture.

Application was good, the short handled brush was easy to use, and whilst the polish needed a couple of coats, it didn't take that long to dry. Wear time was also pretty decent, and it lasted for around 3 days before I started to see some tip wear. I'm notoriously tough on nail polish, so this is quite impressive for me especially when you consider that I didn't use a top coat.

I have to say I love the colour and I love how it changes with movement and in different lights,. The formulation was fine too, the texture of the polish was good and drying and wear time were both pretty impressive.

As per usual though there are a couple of drawbacks, this product does contain caviar so it isn't suitable for vegans, and as a none fish eating vegetarian I'm not quite sure how I feel about it either. I'm not sure it would stop me from trying more products from the brand but I think there would always be a bit of a guilt thing there at the back of my mind.

If that doesn't bother you though and you're after a nice quality, big 3 free polish then this brand could be one to try. It isn't cheap though and the bottle isn't the biggest but for me I've paid more and liked a polish less, so you pays your money, you makes your choice. FNUG Nail Lacquer in Hats On retails at £12.00 for an 8.5ml bottle from My Pure. Are you a fan of duo chrome nail polishes? Leave me a comment and let me know x
