INIKA Mineral Lipstick In Warm Dusk - A Review For My Pure*

It's been a little while since I've reviewed a make up item for My Pure so this month I decided to try out an item from one of their newer brands, INIKA.

Although I'd heard about the brand and tried out one of their eye shadows I wasn't that familiar with the brand or their ethics. INIKA are a mineral make up brand, who use only the finest natural, crushed minerals in their products. They're are certified cruelty free, and one of the few certified vegan brands on the market. They are also free from talc, genetically modified ingredients, parabens, preservatives, and fragrances.

INIKA have an extensive range of products available on the My Pure website including both powder and liquid foundations, eye shadows, pencils and illuminators, but I decided to go for one of their mineral lipsticks.

The lipsticks in the INIKA range are formulated with natural pigments, shea butter and jojoba oil to give them long lasting colour and moisture.

The lipsticks come boxed and packaged in a matte black almost rubber tube, with gold writing. I'm not always a fan of rubber effect packaging but I have to admit that it always looks classy and expensive.

There are 8 colours to choose from on the My Pure website and I went for Warm Dusk.

I have to be honest and say that the colour swatch on the My Pure website isn't that accurate. I was expecting this to be quite a vibrant pink, but in real life it's a sort of nude pink, with lilac and blue undertones. I'm not even sure how well this swatch shows the shade but hopefully it gives you an idea of just how moisturising this lipstick is.

This face shots isn't the best but hopefully it gives you some sort of idea of just how cool toned this shade actually is.

Despite the fact that this colour wasn't what I expected I have to say I really liked this lipstick. This shade is very cool toned but I think it works well on my pale pink toned complexion. The texture of the lipstick was nice, and it left my ridiculously dry lips feeling comforted and moisturised, and the colour lasted pretty well.

That said I do have a couple of negatives, first of all the taste, there was a tiny hint of almost citrus flavour but the overwhelming taste was quite waxy, and almost a little bit crayon like.

To be honest I can live with the not so amazing taste but the price is maybe a little bit harder to swallow. This lipstick normally retails at £17 from My Pure. Yes, I appreciate that it's vegan, ethical and contains no nasties but £17 is still a pretty high price for a lipstick but that might just be something personal to me. If your willing to spend that much than you could do a lot worse than buy one of these, especially since the INIKA Mineral Lipsticks are currently on special offer at only £15.30 on the My Pure website.

If you are going to purchase one though the only thing I would say is have little look elsewhere on the internet for swatches to make sure you get the shade you want x

If you have any questions on this lipstick or if there is anything specific that you would like me to review from My Pure then please leave me a comment x Thanks for reading x

Road Trip Haul and Some Gifties

Before we went to see the Vivienne Westwood exhibition yesterday, we had a little look around Barnard Castle, it's a country town with lots of touristy shops, as well as a few small high street stores. My mum always enjoys a little poke around the charity and antique shops and picked up a few nice really good quality bits, alas I didn't see nothing I liked - I never seem to have any luck in charity shops :(
I had a little look in Boots and Superdrug though and I did pick up a few bits. First of all one of the L'Oreal Color Infaillible Eyeshadows.

I first saw these the other day on Modesty Brown's blog and fell in love, the are supposedly similar to the Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill shadows and are a cream / powder hybrid. The colour I got was 009 Permanent Kaki, a gorgeous olive green. First impressions of these are good, the texture is lovely and they seem really pigmented.

I also made another blogger inspired purchase. I saw this on the lovely Holly's blog and again it was love at first sight -  I love Nars Deep Throat and this is supposedly a good budget dupe. It's the Collection
2000 Shimmer Shades in 2. Blushalicious.

You get 4 prisms of pigmented slightly shimmery cheek / face colours in shades of peach, coral, plum and pink which can be used separately or swirled together x

Here are some individual swatches of each colour

I think this will be a lovely palette for providing just a pop of colour on the cheeks throughout the summer months x
These were the most exciting things that I bought yesterday, in fact I only got another 2 things some nail polish remover, and a copy of Marie Claire. I bought the magazine specifically for the free Inika eyeshadow, as I'm quite interested in natural cosmetics - I will do a little review of the shadow soon for you, in the meantime, hot foot it down to your newsagent to pick one of these up before the new issue (with free Ciate lipgloss) goes on sale.
Mummy Lou has also been kind enough to purchase me a few bits and pieces this week from the new MUA Pro range at Superdrug - I haven't managed to get to any of the stores near me that are stocking the range so she paid for a little online order for me. No swatches at the moment but they well be coming soon when I look at MUA for my Budget Beauty Series which I will hopefully be starting next week with a look at the Aldi Lacura Line x Anyways here's what I got -

MUA Professional Extreme Volume Mascara in Extreme Black

MUA Professional Extreme Metallics Eyeshadow Quad - Go Getter

MUA Professional Mosiac Blusher in English Rose

MUA Professional Matte Foundation in Shade 1 Soft Sand

and finally the MUA Professional version of a crackle polish, Nail Quake in Broken Arrow.
I have already had a play with the eyeshadows and so far I am really impressed, and I can't wait to give these products a proper try -  Any questions as per usual leave me a comment - I love reading them all and getting your feedback x
