A Blast From The Past - Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish - 640 Twinkle
I first blogged about Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish in Twinkle, way back in 2010, after purchasing it on a whim in my small village chemists. Although I wasn't really that happy with the post or the photographs, I had no plans to rewrite it or re shoot it. Then of course Photobucket started charging for their services and a lot of my old pictures disappeared, so I deleted the post and to be honest I forgot all about it.
Recently though I was having a sort through my extensive nail polish collection and I rediscovered quite a few polishes that I'd forgotten about. Time hasn't been kind to some of them and even on first glance the bin was the best place for them, but this one looked okay in the bottle so I thought I'd give it a go.
Rimmel Twinkle is a fabulous pink, lilac shade, packed full of tiny specks of silver and multicoloured sparkle. In some lights it looks warmer and more pink toned, and in others the sparkle really comes into its own and it looks cooler, with more lilac tones.
My memory isn't that great but it doesn't apply quite as well as I remember it, but the brush is decent and that always makes a big difference. Given it's age I think the consistency is a little bit thicker than what I remember, but at the same time the coverage wasn't quite as good. The first coat was a bit streaky and a bit patchy, but I found that two coats were enough to give full coverage on most nails.
Now this is one of Rimmel's 60 Seconds polishes, which are designed to dry in believe it or not, 60 seconds or less, but I found that it took a couple of minutes, again probably down to age.
The finish wasn't quite as nice as I remembered either, without a top coat it had quite a rough feel, which was a bit surprising considering the fineness of the sparkle; You could also see a few visible brushstrokes which is one of my biggest pet hates when it comes to nail polish.
Given its age, I was actually really impressed with the wear time, I know polishes with sparkle usually last a bit longer and this one was no exception. I always skip top coat when I'm trying out a polish, and even without it this lasted for nearly 3 days without any chips or wear. I'm notoriously hard on my hands so that was pretty decent by my standards. Again down to the glitter content I was expecting it to be quite hard to remove but because the glitter is so fine it actually wasn't too bad, with just the odd bit of sparkle hanging around on the nails and transferring onto the skin.
This isn't the easiest colour or finish to capture on camera, it's hard to capture a uniform colour in all of the pictures, and as always it's hard to show off the true sparkle on camera. I had a few goes and the eagle eyed Instagram watchers amongst you may have have already seen, a since deleted picture of this polish. I've had a play though and whilst I still don't think my pictures do the sparkle justice, these shot taken at night with the flash, give you a better idea of what it actually looks like on the nails.
Given that I first talked about this polish around 9 years ago now, it's not really any surprise that the formulations seems to have changed slightly, and whilst Twinkle appears to have been discontinued by Rimmel, my bottle certainly isn't ready for the bin just yet. Despite a few drawbacks, it's a really pretty, wearable shade, that's perfect for when you want a safe colour, but with a bit of glamour at the same time x I'm now off to see what else I can rediscover so I'd love to know if you've rediscovered any beauty products recently? Let me know you rediscoveries in the comments - I'd love to hear from you x

My Nail Polish Collection - MAC
We all now about my love for MAC make up, you don't ? well stay tuned for a series of posts on my MAC collection but what you maybe don't know is that I also have a bit of a thing for MAC nail polishes. The quality sometimes isn't all that I admit but they certainly make up for it in colours, and textures. I have to apologise in advance that the majority of these colours are now discontinued, in fact the first couple of polishes are so ancient they come in different packaging (from 1999 - 2001 ish!) eek - lets get started and don't forget to click the polish names to see some nails of the days.
From left to right Shag and ???
Now back to modern day packaging :)
From left to right - On The Prowl, Dry Martini, Seriously Hip and Bad Fairy
Again from left to right - Formidable, Kid Orange, Beyond Jealous and Biker Blue
I've also took a few slightly out of focus pictures in different lighting so you can see how it changes x
The quality of MAC nail polish can be a bit hitty missy some apply like a dream some not so well. For a cosmetic brand nail polish thought they aren't badly priced, at £9.00 for 10ml, (although in recent collections I have noticed a price rise boo) maybe Chanel could learn a thing or two from MAC. Do you have any MAC nail colours ? and what do you think?
From left to right Shag and ???
I can find a name on the bottle of the poor colour on the left so I felt it deserved an nails of the day in this post - I love purple :) (The lovely Charlie - Lady of the Lane has suggested this may be Grid and do you know what I think it is!- thanks lovely xx)

Finally the newest kid on the block - MAC and Gareth Pugh - Ascension
Yet another colour that I think deserves a nails of the day in this post x It's looking quite lilac / purple here but it's shot through with golds, greens and blues

My Nail Polish Collection - Zoya
Zoya was one of the first high end specifically nail polish brands that I ever purchased. Way back in the day Zoya used to be sold on QVC under the Supernails brand. I used their Nail Eat and Drink system to strengthen my nails and I owned several colours. Where those colours are now I really don't know, I'm sure I still have them somewhere! Anyways after the brand left the channel I moved on to other brands including OPI and Nails Inc and forgot about Zoya. Then a year or so ago Zoya came back onto the scene and I purchased a few polishes from ebay , then recently I acquired a few more :), this is my little Zoya collection as it stands - remember to click on the names to see a nails of the day post x
From Left to Right - Cassi, Tallulah and Yara
These 3 polishes are all full sized and are 15mls in size, - Apologies that the nails of the day isn't the best on Cassi but it really is a lovely peach colour with a tiny bit of shimmer , Tallulah as well as being the name of one of my cats is also a gorgeous blue shade again with a bit of shimmer, and Yara beautiful Yara is a recent purchase and is a gorgeous khaki green with lots of gold sparkle.
I also have one mini Zoya polish which is 7.5ml which came in a recent Boudoir Prive box - Neeka - a dark purple again with lots of sparkle - You can see it much better in real life that you can in these pics unfortunately
I have to say I love all of these polishes especially Yara and Tallulah and I definitely need a few more colours from the Smoke and Mirrors collection. Do you have any Zoya recommendations?

My Nail Polish Collection - Nubar
I'm going to start off with a huge apology to Nubar - I only own two of your polishes and I really don't know why that is. Nubar Nail Lacquers are free from a huge amount of nasties that you normally get in your nail polishes including DBP, Formaldehyde, and Toluene, and they also vegan and cruelty free.
The two colour I have from the line are both from the Prisms Collection, which have an amazing holographic finish - First up Treasure
This is an amazing holographic purple, it has a super smooth finish and an amazing amount of sparkle. This was my first Nubar polish and you can see a nails of the day with it here x
For some reason I never picked up another Nubar polish till I was lucky enough to win one of my choice in a giveaway held by the lovely Yinka.
Again I chose a polish from the Prisms Collection, this time in Absolute, a beautiful pale blue/ turquoise again packed full of holographic sparkle
Aren't these two shades gorgeous - I really don't know why I don't own more Nubar shades, If you have any recommendations please leave me a comment and let me know x

My Nail Polish Collection - Essie
Hi Guys by the hopeful miracle of scheduled posting I'm back. If you read LouLouLand on a regular basis and especially my nails of the day posts you'll probably have guessed that one of the first Nail Polish Collection posts was going to feature Essie. Whilst digging through my nail polish I've rediscovered Essie in a big way.
Now onto the larger sizes, I mainly purchase my Essie from ebay but I have picked up a few bottles on ASOS - I tend to find that the darker shades apply better and last longer. I have a few of the nude and pale neutral shades and I find they tend to look either none existent on the nails or they tend to streak quite a bit, requiring a few coats to show the colour properly.
From left to to right - Mink Muffs, Sew Psyched, and Mint Candy Apple
I don't have as many Essie polishes as I have for some other polish brands but I'm fairly happy with the ones that I have got. We'll start with the mini bottles, I have to say Essie minis are one of the best mini polishes I've tried and they compare really well to the larger sizes in quality. More often than not they come in boxed sets, but I have picked a few up as magazine freebies. If you click the shade name you should in most cases be able to see a corresponding NOTD post :), if there isn't one and you'd like to see what the shade looks like on my nails let me know and I'll do a post for you x
From right to left - Rock Candy, Lapis of Luxury, Playa Del Platinum, Very Cranberry, Turquoise & Caicos, and Splash of Grenadine

Again from left to right - Allure, Sexy Divide, and Luscious Lips
and finally Mademoiselle
I have to say I've been pretty impressed with Essie generally my favourite colours out of the 13 I own are probably Splash of Grenadine, Lapis of Luxury and Sexy Divide. Do you like Essie polishes and if so what are your must have colours?

My Nail Polish Collection - Color Club
Hey my loves and welcome to the first proper post in My Nail Polish Collection series. In this super long series I am going to be showing you all the nail polishes in my collection through pics and paper swatches as well as including link where appropriate to nails of the day posts. As I said in a previous post this has been requested in video format but this is probably the easiest way to do it x
I've decided to start off with quite a new brand for me Color Club, I have to say I hadn't heard of the brand until late last year when it started popping up on You Tube channels and on blogs. I think it's a US brand and I've bought the 3 bottles I have from ebay for a pretty reasonable price. However I know a few people including the lovely Lillian have managed to pick up some Color Club polishes from TK Maxx so it's worth having a look there too x
The 3 colours I have are all pretty much in the same theme, sparkles, glitters and holographic, and I have to say I am super impressed with the colours, application and wearability of the polishes I have, so without further rambling here they are, Oh and don't forget if you click the names of the polishes it will link you to them on my little fingers in a nails of the day post
From left to right - 850 Worth The Risque, 852 Revvvolution, and 859 Fashion Addict
It's so hard to show you on here just how fabulous these colours actually are, the sparkle is amazing, Worth The Risque is an amazing silver holographic a worthy and easier to apply dupe of Gosh Holographic, 859 Fashion Addict is a beautiful lilac shade with lots of holographic sparkle, and as you can see 852 Revvvolution is a gorgeous dark charcoal shade, again with lots of holographic sparkles
If you love sparkle these polishes are definitely worth a look, I really want to try out some more Color Club polishes so if you have any recommendations please let me know x
