Cream Eyeshadows On A Budget - Scarlett & Crimson

Earlier this year the founders of the Ruby + Millie make up brand , Ruby Hammer and Millie Kendall introduced a newer and slightly cheaper diffusion line, Scarlett and Crimson. In funkier packaging this line is very much geared towards the younger market. Even though I'm probably not in their target demography I have to say the line really appealed to me - the packaging as I said is cool  and very goth, emo, the product range is good with brushes, temporary tattoos and make up items, and the prices are really competitive. I picked up two items all these many months ago two of the Stacks of Beauty Cream Eyeshadow Trios. I have to say this year in particular I have really showed a lot of love to cream eyeshadows they are so versatile- to be honest though you don't see a lot of them in drugstore brands but the Scarlett & Crimson brand offers a range of 5 different trios.

The trios come packaged in individual components which you can stack together in the trio, take off and store separately or if you have more than one trio you can stack them all together.

The most obvious trio for me to chose was The Naturals Trio -3 super natural colours ideal for a barely there look

From Left To Right - Neutral Eyes, All The Sage and Thunder Road

Photobucket

A few eye looks for you first up Neutraleyes -  a proper nude black out colour it would probably make a good base or exactly as the name suggests a neutralising shade ;)

Photobucket
Next up All The Sage - what can I say about this colour apart from it's not that pleasant a shade, a sort of green / brown khaki that goes a bit yellow on the skin - it reminds me a bit of poo sorreee

Photobucket
OK from my least favourite to my favourite colour in the trio Thunder Road -  a lovely dark grey it works great on its own or like any cream shadows it goes well as a base or as an accent when used with a powder or pigment.

Thunder Road On It's Own

Thunder Road With Urban Decays Gunmetal

In this trio the standout colour certainly is Thunder Road  - a great staple smokey grey colour, Neutraleyes is exactly that I can imagine that it might not show up on some people so maybe it's best as a base colour, where as All The Sage despite it funky name just isn't that nice a colour it fades from the Khaki shade to a sort of unpleasant yellow - not flattering

I also picked up The Smokey Trio I have to say this one wasn't really what I expected as you will see

Photobucket
From Left To Right - Silver Spoon, Cha Cha Charcoal and Hot Pink

Photobucket

We'll start off with the most wearable Silver Spoon - a gorgeous silvery grey that looks great on it's own

Photobucket
or great with a powder shadow - this is with the silvery / lilac of MAC Idol Eyes

Photobucket
Next up Cha Cha Charcoal - a very dark grey which is almost black - I have to say dear readers there is no way I was going to post a picture of me wearing this more on why later - but I'll just say this if I put this all over my lids I would be doing my best Alice Cooper impersonation - not for the fainted hearted but if your a goth girl this could be the one for you. Therefore I decided to try using it in a different way by using it as a cream liner as you can see hear with Silver Spoon all over the lid - sorry it's a tad blurry

Photobucket
The last colour in this trio I'm afraid is one that will also never see my eyelids Hot Pink - and I have to say it's exactly that, a bright fuchsia pink - wearing it on my eyes is way to daring for me so again I had to think of some other uses for it - the most obvious use of a pink eyeshadow is as a blusher as you can see it actually blends down really nicely compared to the solid swatch earlier

Photobucket
I also tried it on my lips and I have to say I was pretty happy with the results a lovely Hot Pink with quite a matte finish which surprised me but it actually lasted pretty well - sorry for the blurry pics again my camera was obviously having a bad day

Photobucket
My favourite colour in the trio is obviously Silver Spoon -  the other two aren't really going to be my first choice in the morning now are they ;)

So what do I think, well the texture of the shadows in nice and creamy, they apply pretty well with a brush and with their fingers, they are pretty pigmented but I have to say they don't really last that well and they do have a tendency to run and crease a bit :( My only other complaint is the presence of the shall we say strange colours in the trios but if your younger and you want to experiment why not these certainly won't break the bank . There are 6 different trios to choose from in lots of different colours including blues and purples and they are available from Superdrug for £3.95 for a trio. Any questions please ask xx

A Review Of L'Oreal Matte Morphose Foundation

Photobucket
I purchased this product a few months ago as part of a rather large Superdrug haul as per usual I was a sucker for a good offer, and snapped it up at an introductory price I've had a good chance to use it for a month or so, so I thought I'd let you know what I think. One of the biggest problems I have with my skin is oil/shine and open pores - this product sounded as though it was was the answer to my prayers - a 12 hour luminous matter finish - pres and wrinkles looking smoother bring it on!
Photobucket
The texture of this product intrigued me L'Oreal describe as a souffle foundation - I have tried mousse and cream foundations before but I've always been less than impressed, they are either to greasy or too dry and cakey on my skin, this though was something different.
Photobucket
Photobucket
It has a lovely light whipped texture which blends easily on the skin, without any caking or streaking, either over moisturiser or over primer. The best way I found of applying it was to apply a blob to the back of my hand and then apply it with a duo fibre type brush - this one is by Ruby + Millie it's a decent brush but it it terrible for shedding - a MAC or Sigma 187 or 131 would also work really well, I then went over it with a foundation sponge for a flawless finish. As you can seen in these pics the coverage really is good

Before
Photobucket
A very scary pic lots of redness, spots and shine

After
Photobucket
A pretty even complexion which is definitely less shiny, even without concealer and powder

I have to admit I tended to powder down my t-zone with this after a few hours so I am not convinced about the 12 hour claim but I still removed make up from my skin about about 12 hours both with and without primer so that has to be a good thing. I only have two main gripes about the foundation, first of all you seem to use a lot of it and you only get 20ml in the jar which means it probably isn't going to last long, and also the colour choice. There is only 6 colours to choose from which isn't the greatest shade range - I got 110 Rose Ivory but to be fair I probably could have got another couple of shades - they seemed to be pretty similar. Having said that I actually really liked this foundation I am not convinced this shade would work for me in the depths of winter but it's a nice foundation and I have already repurchased. L'Oreal Matte Morphose Souffle Foundation is around £11.99 from all L'Oreal stockists. Any questions please let me know x

Face Of Yesterday

I had to pop to the Post Office yesterday so I decided to take my foundation test pics before I went, so I decided to show you the rest of the make up that I wore in a delayed FOTD :) Again no neutral eyes, I went for a shimmery silver / lilac look, pretty pink cheeks, and glossy pink lips - enjoy xx

Superdrug Haul and A Health Update

I had an early doctors appointment this morning - I've been feeling beyond awful lately so I wanted to see if there was anything else they could do. It seems pretty likely now that I have Fibromyalgia as well as CFS - my muscle pains and spasms have been steadily getting worse and appearing in different parts of my body. So I have had my medication increased so I am now going to be taking tablets throughout the day and not just a night. Hopefully this will help my pain levels during the day, on the downside the meds might make me even sleepier but we are going to see how I get on,so I'll be going back in a fortnight.

Anyways on to happier things - my mum wanted to pop to Argos for a new clothes airer (the cats keep climbing on them and breaking them ) so I popped into Superdrug - I was initially going to try and get my hands on More magazine to get a Free Barry M Dazzle Dust but I missed out I didn't realise More was fortnightly or is it weekly:( Never mind I went in anyway and this is what I got

Just in case you haven't got time to watch this ;) I'll tell you what I got too :) No pics unfortunately but if you want to see something in particular let me know. I got two pair of earring, some small gold hearts, and some silver tone dangly bows. I also picked up the L'oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray Cheryl edition, some Nivea Soft Moisture Cream, a Solait Self Tan Mitt, and another Scarlett and Crimson Cream Eyeshadow Trio in The Smokey Trio

Any questions please let me know - I have a full review of the Scarlett and Crimson Cream Shadows to come x

Superdrug and Aldi Bits + NOTD

I popped out for a couple of hours with my mum yesterday to get the rest of my besties birthday pressie and as per usual I picked up a few bits for me :)
Firstly Superdrug :) why or why do I buy something every time I go in - everything seems to shout buy me lol. Well I was pretty restrained and only picked up three bits. First of all I noticed that all the True Spirit jewellery was half price so I bought these pretty earring for only 99p (slightly less than half price actually they were originally £1.99 - strange) yes they are bows again - wire bows on a little chain with a crystal at the top
Photobucket
I also spotted the new Scarlett & Crimson range by Ruby Hammer and Millie Kendall so I decided to try something - I went for the creme eyeshadow trio in The Natural Trio - this is really unusual packaging design the eyeshadows are all packaged separately but they stack together so presumably if you have all the trios
(I spotted at least another 3)you can stack them all together.

I've just included a few pics here but I will be doing a full review of these shadows and the packaging soon for you so keep checking back x
I also picked up a nail polish by GOSH 546 Rainbow - this is gorgeous and so sparkly with multi coloured glitter in it which can look like gold leaf, green, pink you name it :)
Photobucket
I've included a few pics of it painted over the top of Eyeko Tea Rose but the pics really don't do it justice - it's gorgeous and look amazing over most colours :)

We also popped to Aldi which was a bit of a sad experience - a few months ago I did a review of their Lacura Balancing Day Cream (click here to see it) - alas it seems to be no more :( there was no space for it on the shelves and it's no longer on the Aldi site - sniff - if anyone sees one please, please pick one up for me - it was my favourite "cheap" moisturiser :( Never mind I still picked a few bits up from the Lacura range including a pack of the 3 in 1 Facial Cleansing Wipes - these two have changed packaging and you now get more in the pack but thankfully they seem the same
Photobucket
I also picked one of the eyeshadow duos after a recommendation from the lovely Lauren - I went for 202 Olive - again I've just added a few pics here I will definitely be reviewing this too for you alongside my long promised Lacura lipgloss review x

Photobucket
I hope you enjoyed yet another haul from me ;) As I say I'll definitely be reviewing some of these items in more detail for you so don't forget to keep checking back Oh and a huge thank you and hello to my new followers xx
