Radius Tour Travel Toothbrush - A Review For My Pure*

The topic of this post is a bit of a sore subject for me and I don't just mean figuratively speaking. My teeth at the moment are giving me some serious gip! Despite regular trips to the dentist, brushing, flossing, and gargling, one of my wisdom teeth has decided it doesn't want to play ball, It's causing all sorts of problems in my mouth and now it's starting to cause me a lot of pain so I'm going to be seeing an oral surgeon in a couple of weeks to sort it out once and for all - eek!

Having never had any real problems with my teeth before it's made me realise how awful toothache and mouth problems really are. Thankfully most dental issues can be prevented with a good oral hygiene routine (not mine though - cry!) so it's important to brush regularly, floss and use a mouthwash to prevent bacteria forming in the mouth.

The first step in any good oral hygiene routine is to use a good tooth brush, and believe me finding one isn't always that easy. The choice seems to be never ending these days, with different shaped heads, different textures, manual, and rechargeable, electric, sonic, - the list goes on and on. It's all about what works for you though and one of my favourite toothbrushes is the Radius Original Toothbrush. I originally received one of these from My Pure way back in 2011 (read my review here) and it was love at first brush. The wide head enables you to brush your teeth more quickly and more thoroughly, and it's long lasting and the quality is excellent. I've bough a few more over the years but for one of September's My Pure reviews I decided to try another product from the Radius range.

Radius are an American company who specialise is the production of natural toothbrushes and dental flosses. My Pure have a large selection of their products online now, including a range of toothbrushes for right handed and left handed customers, toothbrushes for babies and children, and flavoured dental flosses,  They also offer cases, and stands for your brushes and even a travel toothbrush.

Travel toothbrushes in theory are a brilliant idea  A trimmed down version of your toothbrush with a head cover or a case, they're a mess free way to take your brush on holiday, on a business trip or even to work with you. The trouble is though more often than not travel toothbrushes just aren't that good- they're normally too small, and too soft to give your mouth a proper clean :( Given my previous experience with the Radius line though I thought I'd try out their travel offering - the Radius Tour Travel Toothbrush.

All of the brushes in the Radius range are cruelty free, environmentally friendly and as natural as possible. They are made to last around 9 months and are free from latex, phthalate, and BPA. They are made from a wood based plastic, and the bristles are made from a vegetable fibre.

The brush is predominantly clear bar a small coloured band - there are a few colours to choose from but I went for the purple. The tooth brush has a unique jack knife design that enables the tooth brush to be fully folded in on itself so you have the brush and the case all in one with no parts of pieces to lose, and of course you have no mess or leaks

The brush then folds out and then in again to create an ergonomic feel handle, and the toothbrush had itself has a long slim neck that enables you to get the brush into all the nooks and crannies of your mouth.

All of the brushes in the Radius range have at around 300% more bristles then a comparable brush, and that's obvious from the unconventional shape of the head. It's much wider than a normal brush but it narrows towards to end to get right into more difficult areas. This isn't the firmest of brushes by any means but it does the job way better than any other travel brush that I've tried. The texture of the brush also makes it ideal for brushing your gums, and for brushing more sensitive areas, such as say rogue wisdom teeth.

If you've tried another brand of travel brush and been disappointed then this is definitely one to try. The quality is excellent and although the price is higher then some alternatives, the brush will last for around nine months, and the brush heads are replaceable, so you can change the head without changing the handle and case. The replacement heads in also available in both a soft and a medium texture, so if this brush is too soft for you you can try something a bit firmer. This brush will definitely be a toiletry bag must have for me now for both holidays, travel and for when I'm on the go, and I have that urge, and need to brush my teeth. The Radius Tour Toothbrush* comes in 4 colours and retails at £8.99 each from My Pure, and the replacement heads come in both Soft and Medium and retail at £5.99 for a pack of two. Brushing Up With The Original Radius Toothbrush - A Review For My Pure

My name is Louise and I have great oral hygiene. OK that isn't meant to be a boast but my dentists did use those exact words last week, but I have to say ever since I was tiny I've always tried to take care of my teeth I brush, I floss (with dental floss sticks -I get in knots with floss), and I visit the dentist every 6 months without fail. The prize product in my oral hygiene routine, is a nice rechargeable Braun /Oral B tooth brush, from the first moment I got this baby it was love, tooth cleaning for lazy people the brush does the work for you, and with the small head you can get it right into the nook and crannies especially round the wisdom teeth. I wasn't looking for a new toothbrush by all means but a few months ago I got an email from My Pure about a new type of toothbrush, alas every time I tried to pick one for review they were always sold out, good sign I guess, I needed to try one - well for my October reviews I finally managed to nab one!

The Radius Original Toothbrush was first manufactured in the USA in 1982, and since then it's developed a cult following with celebrity fans such as Cher, and Sting. Made from sustainable material the brush looks unlike the majority of brushes in the market, it comes in both left and right handed versions, and is ergonomically designed to brush teeth at the correct pressure and the recommended 45 degree angle.

One of the key things you notice about the Radius brush is the size of the head it is huge especially compared to my little rechargeable. The Radius contains around 300% more bristles than a standard toothbrush, and not only that but they are softer and finer meaning you can get them into the gaps between your teeth and gums more easily, giving a thorough mouth clean. The bristle also don't absorb water so instead of the usual 3 months, a Radius toothbrush will last around 9 months!

I was sent a right handed toothbrush in blue. My first impression was that it was going to be a bit difficult to control but I was wrong. Although it doesn't look that easy to handle the brush fits perfectly into your hand, and was really easy to position and use. My initial fear was that because of the large head size I wouldn't be able to get the brush into the smaller and more precise areas of my mouth, again though I was wrong. The size of the brush actually makes it easier and quicker to brush all of your teeth, and I have to say I have no problem cleaning the awkward area surrounding my wisdom teeth. The brush cleaned thoroughly and gently, and without causing bleeding gums which I'm sometimes prone too. Don't get me wrong I still love my rechargeable but the Radius really surprised me by how well it performed, and my dentist obviously agreed since I hadn't used another brush for nearly 3 weeks prior to my appointment. The Radius Original Toothbrush comes in both and left and right handed version and in several colours and retails at £9.99 from My Pure . If you have any questions please leave me a comment x
