Dealing With The Hair Downstairs With The Philips Bikini Perfect Trimmer

OK I know we all love talking about nail polish, and make up, but there are beauty tasks that well, aren't so appealing. A week or so ago I reviewed the fabulous Philips Satin Soft Epilator that made removing their hair on my legs quick, easy and relatively painless, as well as the epilator I also received another product from Philips to help tackle unwanted hair "down below".

Yes it's not glamorous by any means but it's something that the majority of us do, for aesthetic or hygiene reasons. I'm partial to bit of hair removal cream or a bog standard manual razor as my method of choice after a bikini wax left me with an infection in my hair follicles (yes that sounds gross believe me it looked and felt so much worse!!!) so when I was offered the chance to try the Philips Bikini Perfect Personal Grooming Set I thought I'd give it a go.

Before you click the cross in the corner, I'm not going to be showing you any pics of my erm downstairs area - this isn't that type of blog ;) but I've used this a few times now so I'm going to show you what you get in your box and let you know what I think.

In your box you get the base unit, a storage bag, full instructions and a charger cable. The first time you use it like the epilator you need to charge the base unit for around 10 hours, which gives you 60 minutes of use. You can use the unit and all the blades and heads both wet and dry. The unit has a nice ergonomic shape so it fit nicely and comfortably in the hand.

The Bikini Perfect comes with 6 interchangeable heads and blades for a full range of their words "styling options" First of all you get the epilation head which enables you to remover hair from root and stay smooth for up to 4 weeks. I have to be honest and say I did use this but epilating down there isn't for me - it was probably no worse than a bikini wax but it did smart a little bit so I don't think I'll be trying that one again.

The rest of the heads are conventional trimmer and shaver head. On the left you have an Eyebrow and Detail Trimmer. This tiny head can be used to trim hair in smaller areas and to help add detailing to larger areas. I actually use this to reshape and trim a bit of my eyebrow tails and I have to say it was brilliant, you had to be careful and have a steady hand but it did the job perfectly. The middle one is the Extra Smooth and Safe Shaver head, this was brilliant for just getting rid of the hair, I used it wet which was much more comfortable and less dragging on the skin, this was probably the most useful head for me and it was designed perfectly for the bikini line and inner thighs. The head on the far right is the Precise and Gentle Trimmer. This is basically used to trim the hair but not remove it entirely again this was perfectly shaped to get right into the erm nooks and crannies especially when it was used alongside

....the combs - on the left is the Hygienic Trimming Comb - which works perfectly with the Precise and Gentle Trimmer head to trim and shape areas of  longer hair, and on the right the Eyebrow and Detail Comb which attaches to the Eyebrow and Detail Trimmer, to able clean, safe trimming, again in more sensitive areas and areas with slightly longer hair.

As well as these interchangeable heads you also get a cleaning brush to keep the heads free of stubborn hairs (you can also just rinse them under the tap for quickness) and you also get several plastic stencils including a heart, a crown, a butterfly, an arrow, and a rectangle for the traditional Brazilian. I haven't tried these yet - in fact I'm not really sure how they work, you can't exactly rest them on your bits, so do you draw round them and then use the trimmer heads around the outlines? hmm not sure but I might give these ago before my next appointment with the nurse ;)

Joking inside if you want a quick, easy and mess free solution to the hair downstairs then this might be your answer. I'm just thinking how much money I've spent on razors, and hair removal cream over the years, it's not something I want to think about. The Philips Bikini Perfect Trimmer HP6379 retails at around £41.00 from retailers including Argos and Amazon. If you have any questions please leave me a comment xx
